Well, life goes on huh? The smoke and mirrors have disappeared, the clouds we all rode in on have gone back, that feeling of all one people thankfully has lingered a while, for how long who knows, but for now, hey its cool. I love the feeling of belonging to this weird country, of not just occupying space as I have done all my life. It was really hard trying to belong here and be patriotic, I faked it alot, like that false portrayal of crossing your hand over your heart while you recited the Pledge of Allegiance, until it got to the part, "liberty and justice for all" I quit saying when I was 12. But now I pledge the whole thing because one day it could come true and right now, I feel like that's my flag too, damn it!
I am cracking up over the shock of a black family in the white house but mainly the funny part will come when they want Michelle to do something she really doesn't want to do and "Sapphire" comes out, albeit classy, but out. Maybe in time they can like us, respect us, and understand we ARE different and have more to offer than being good at basketball and football and our speech sounds just like theirs most of the time, well, at least while we're at work. Maybe they will get used to him reaching for her and loving his little girls. Maybe when they dance again, holding both arms around her wont seem so strange and they will just think, 'that's just the way they dance' and maybe, just maybe, they will get used to the sight of the people in the white house administration, looking just like America out here. Mixed.

Camelot on Steroids
What is happening today is what most of us old timers knew all along, if you give him a chance a Black man will rise to the occasion in great style. It will not be as any man regardless of color, it will be a rise of great personal confidence and extraordinary ability that will grab the attention of a nation, a people or the whole world and let all know, here is a different kind of human being.
Now, today we all stand in awe and with deep respect of the pomp and circumstance that underlines this occasion in history. For Whites maybe their choice has surprised even them as they wave the flag and with shouts and smiles join in the festivities, the world may even hold the most hope for a different existence, yet in the heart of every Black man and woman, we beheld today, something few if any of us thought we would ever see. So the realization of what really has happened, slowly sets in as the day goes by as the realization that this Black man, is not just the President of the United States, he is, the most powerful man in the world. Hello.
