Oh my, oh my, what the hell is wrong with Hollywood these days? Where has all the talent gone? Where are the writers, the editors? I remember the first Day The Earth Stood Still, without all the CGI effects and the crashes and blowups, and it was in Black and White to boot! A great story with suspense, actors with missions that made sense, reactions that were part of the story, and lighting that let you see what was going on. The camera work wasn't so fast you couldn't follow the frames, you could see what people were doing and understand the plot. Oh yes, it had a plot. It didn't have men on mountains that got knocked out and woke up for no reason with a lump on their hand. Oh what am I missing here? Was that the star? With a beard? How can I know?
And when did the Earth stand still in this new one? I didn't see it, frankly I kept waiting for something that would show the world it had to stop an take a breath. It never came. Boy am I glad I didn't spend money to see this or I would have demanded it back. And th kid, oh he hated everybody, not like the nice well mannered boy in the first film that actually had a conversation with the Alien instead of a mindless series of hate and resentment moments. Hey folks save your money and just wait until it comes on TV, on regular TV, the non paying kind and if you miss it, no problem you really didn't miss anything as this was as exciting as Hudson Hawk and just as pointless. And you heard it from me.
